I live in London, England and just stumbled upon your
pages. I think they are absolutely wonderful for
mankind and the human spirit, and not just for people
in the USA.
I run my own management consulting firm, specializing
in the management of knowledge, creativity and intellectual

and I firmly believe that everything in life stems from

The big question teenagers want to know, "How is knowing what happened in 1492 going to put money in my wallet?"
This is a common comment in discussion groups when students are complaining about wasting time -- in school.
TODAY I BELIEVE WE DISRESPECT OUR TEENAGERS... THE JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOLS ..."BORDER ON SILLY."
The teens I have known...are in a hurry, they often say: "Wasting time drives me nuts."
"Words That Work" a book written by Dr. Frank Luntz. proves teenagers are NOT dummies... He said:
"We know too much about things that really don't matter."
30 years ago my 16-year-old students beat Dr. Luntz to the punch!!!
Literally Hundreds of times...I wish I knew how often... teenagers scream with tears flowing...

As a Youth Counselor I discovered a Hassle-free way to kick your Son's many passions...into high gear.

I'll never forget, the son of a multi-millionaire who robbed a bank. I insisted he solve his own problem. He thought, "You're a crazy old man, I don't know what to do!

He knows what he wants to learn. But, when MOM is out of sight...The truth hits like a ton-of-bricks. He's disappointed. "Adults just don't listen."

Most parents I have helped think they are good listeners. They have been carpenters, janitors, millionaires, police chiefs, sheriffs, ministers, and high-ranking officers in the Service, even a General in disguise...
They arrive in both limousines and dirty old taxis...all with love, tears, and pain in their hearts...
They are usually too close to the problem...You know what I mean--so deep in the forest of problems...They can't see the beauty of a tree....

Let's not be timid, your Son's lifestyle is at stake here...
97% of all students lose interest in EDUCATION the last two years of High School.
Building your Son's interest in learning is like building anything...you need a blueprint first.
In his last years of High School your Son wants practical information. Classes that will fill his wallet...Help him discover a Goal or two. (His goal -- NOT your goal.)
He deserves the discovery of FREEDOM.
- To work where he wants.
- To live where he wants.
- To work with whom he wants.
A slight problem: Profit and loss - Success in Business...is NOT a High School Passion.

Adults are convinced they know exactly what they are doing. Why? "Cuz I love him so much." Hate to tell you but it takes more than love. Actually the rumor is--parents are dull, boring, preachy."

I left home at the age of 14 -- dumb as a sack of hammers but this old boy knows...how to listen.
Yep, I still think I'm a genius at the age of 79. I have six boys; one spoiled brat, 30 grandchildren, and 20 years experience helping teen boys. Loving every minute.
If I can't turn you into an optimistic MOM with tricks of the parenting trade...no one can. Bragging??? If it's true it's not bragging...I'll do almost anything...if it will help you and your SON!
Frankly I'm disappointed in the "respect" teens are getting.
Why? Because I know how to take your Son to a FOCUS and an Education LEVEL he never dreamed possible.
Imagine all his Greatness - blooming under your lights at the kitchen table. How? It's all about discovery...satisfying your Son's wants, needs and curiosity.
I believe if he is not GIDDY...with excitement the last two years of High School your School Superintendent is proving he would not make a pimple on a winning coaches __ __ __ Well...you know what I mean...
He's no longer keeping score...He has no strategy. No game plan that works. What's the old quotation: "If you have no plan...you plan to fail.
Effective teaching...at your Son's age...is answering questions.
Not preaching. Not studying what he calls "Dumb Stuff."
He wants answers to adult problems. He thinks he deserves all that "mature secret stuff."
- What IS...True love?
- What IS...a marriage that works?
- What IS...good parenting?
Too much time is wasted...Your Son can learn more about his favorite subject, "Making Money" in one hour because he wants too-than he will all day in regular classes.
Imagine this...or make a guess..."How many students waste their time with mandatory classes designed by...dingy politicians and PhD's?"
Politicians have no clue.
PhD's would rather read books without a goal...or write poetry.

NOT one word...at the ripe old age of 16 is focused -- on putting money in your son's pocket!

I've had so many "Hot and Heavy Discussions...Debates" with so-called mature adults...who pretend they know your Son...

You should know...if you have a PhD Degree and a Rolls Royce -- your Son is NOT impressed...

For years I focused on the serious side of-life, love and liberty...It's all your SON really wants. He may not tell you...but he does get serious.

I don't think so: Read and wonder Why...Hypothesis, postulatum, theorem, thesis, postulate, conjecturable, premise, syllogism, and many more worth less than a thin dime...Hell, I can't pronounce some of them...
These create a wild and foolish assumption: "Learning is extremely complicated." Wrong again.
Do you really think your Son wants to?
continue studying...algebra; dissect frogs, and study birds and bees?
These words have no practical use in our "Give me money now" society...
You and I must never forget:

The last two years of High School - totally ignore...The Best Selling Books of all-time. One has been the # 2 Bible for successful businessmen and happy functional families...for 50 years...
There are a half-dozen other great books. My first suggestion IS:
"How To Win Friends and Influence People." By Dale Carnegie...
I read this book when I was sixteen. I remember when working in Wilson Hardware in Live Oak, Calif...a cranky rich old lady who hated every living creature...suddenly learned how to smile.
This incident changed her attitude, and mine. It proved...my newfound Dale Carnegie-social skills do work. Suddenly, "I'm no longer a "punk kid."
Book # 2 "Think and Grow Rich." By Napoleon Hill. The guys with the big bucks know Secrets you will never know...
A wish for you...If you and I ever come face-to-face to help your Son...
I suggest you at least skim -- Dale Carnegies book first...Our conversation will be short and sweet because we are thinking like two peas in a pod...
If your Son never reads another book...These are required...Every High School Student should know the Principles in these books...They will positively change your Son to a father...that likes being a father...Yep.
And would you Believe?
1.) Less drugs.
2.) Less crime.
3.) Less pain on Main Street.
Practical education works. Social skills absolutely...will calm your family and give your community a brand new look....

Your SON deserves the best coach possible everyday of his life. Let's face it -- common sense has taken the back seat in our High Schools...

The reality is, teenagers think they can improve the art of being Great Lovers and Parents...WOW-Just like this old man!

Intense small group discussions can continue for hours with a focus on two words..."LOVE and PARENTING."
Believe me-one class a day...with this topic will stop High School dropouts - I-N-S-T-A-N-T-L-Y...

Before I forget another favorite word young men want to study is "courage." Your Son wants to be a real "man," whatever he thinks it is!

It's a foolish fantasy for your School Superintendent to say, "I want scientists and engineers." It's like YOU saying, "I want money." It's never going to happen...unless he discovers:

You just don't know the tears, the pain, the nightmares I've seen on both sides of the fence, including the victims. All Because the Big man...the head coach has not listened for results - and helped the teachers become the best they can be.
Ask him, "Have you helped my son learn how to make a buck today?"
Instead he has written a system he thinks will permanently solve his problems...

Systems without hourly proof of results...do not work.
Passionate teachers make ideas work...NOT systems in a manual.
Every management expert I know of (Dr Peter Drucker, Dr W.E. Deming. and approximately...ten more.) Believe decisions must be made...at a common-sense...gut-level.

Your Superintendents favorite word is: Excellence. (School literature is filled with this meaningless word.) A dictionary defines excellence ...capable of producing "Good qualities." WOW.
Imagine this: The L.A. Lakers trying to be excellent? To be excellent would be like trying to put a marsh mellow in a keyhole.
No Challenge! Lakers, very much -- like every teenager I have known want to blow the doors off the game. A big GOAL is more important than anything you can think of...
"It will stomp the hell out of fear.
WHERE IS YOUR SONS GUTSY COACH...AUDACIOUS LEADER?
Parenting/Management/Leadership? It makes no difference if your SON IS...at HOME or WORK...
How you raise your Son...The method? The system? The procedure?
IT'S all the same; so clear, so SIMPLE.
1. Set the highest...biggest goal...ever dreamed possible.
2. Make adjustments as you manage - time, space, and material...
3. Test results...every hour of every day...Know where you are!
Imagine this:
...Flying to the moon...without testing results every ten-seconds.
...Navigation from L.A. to Hong Kong...without testing direction every hour.
Your Superintendent does NOT know how to test the value of his own work.
So how does he know: "Am I kicking butt or mumbling mediocrity?"
Testing is The Magic Word Of All Successful Managers.
Give this man respect...Mr. J.C. Penny-A master of testing for results. His life got better at home...and at work because he understood:
- Human nature.
- How this world works.
- How to increase his value to others.
- How to use: time material.
When "so-called" professionals have a PhD degree...they have a philosophy that has no value in our Capitalistic Society...
No final results? NO useful goal?
A philosophical debate can continue forever without putting...gut feelings -- heart and soul on the table!
Truth is--this word "Professionalism." IS a Creative LIE invented to increase the size of your superintendent's paycheck.
This is NOT necessarily your superintendent's own-personal plan...but he's green-as-grass. Not a manager! It's a reality...going on for years.
Am I arrogant...I'll let you have fun with that word?
I am damn sure passionate...
Management is both a skill and an art...This word, "professionalism," is as phony as a three-dollar bill.
Bottom-line results kick--in with...training, experience, passion and commitment.
Just an opinion...YOUR SUPERINTENDENT HAS
- LOST HIS GET-UP-AND-GO.
- HE HAS FORGOTTEN THE VALUE OF HIS WORK.
- HE HAS ALLOWED THE MINOR DETAILS TO...BEAT-HIM-DOWN.
- HE HAS LOST THE BIG GOAL...TO BE # 1 IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY.
I have personally seen this happen...to many good managers. It's easy to become overwhelmed with details...but there are no excuses...

But not your Superintendent...
What's that quotation..."Power corrupts-laziness creeps in." Managers think they have us Fooled...NO. He only fools himself...
Our world has no use for theories on profound questions IN...ethics, metaphysics and academic fields.
MOST OF US HAVE TO WORK FOR A LIVING....
Your School Superintendents infatuation is teaching your SON to be a doctor, lawyer, or a professional of some kind.
He's BETRAYING your trust...let-you-down clearly lost sight of what your SON needs.
Think about this: Why in the world would you study or buy any idea or product...expecting you may use it someday?
It makes as much sense as a closet filled with a thousand pairs of shoes.
It's a terrible investment...It's time to focus on a tool you can use...today, right now...immediately.
I have nothing against doctors, lawyers or engineers, but I do know only 1% to 3% of your SONS High School buddies will become professionals.
So how about the 97% of us...
My N.Y friend would say, "What am I Chopped liver?"
We don't want to dissect frogs and argue about the price of tea in china? Young men I hang out with -- want to know - where is the money?

It's true...your School Superintendent wants to spoon-feed as many professional students as possible...it's a feather in his or her cap.
But, teenagers also need a feather...they are ready to go to work now. But, big companies are screaming...Holly Mollie!
The Wheels...Big Guys who hire your SON -- have to teach simple social skills. How to think, listen...walk and talk like you really mean it!

Too often School Board Members think...systems, rules and petty stuff -- create success.
They forget -- there is only one Goal. (Yep, I keep saying it.) I suggest get mad, serious and really mean it...focus on the highest Goal possible...
Remember President Kennedy's big goal..."In ten years we will have a man on the moon." He knew it was possible so he focused on The Big one first. Worked on the details later.
I believe School Board members IF YOU ACT and if you constantly look for creative new and better ways:
You Have More Power Than The Local Sheriff.
You prevent crime and gangs
You introduce courage and education.
You introduce a quiet faith and confidence.
Mismanagement of your school is truly a critical problem.

SO MOM...WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
Tell you what...have your Son write me. Send a self-addressed envelope. We'll "rap" a while. Learn more about each other.
I can show him how to...make a home run...when he puts his pen on a piece of paper. Learning how to write is often just -- action and action and action...the same as...batting practice searching for the big Home Run.
I'd like to help him make mistakes on paper...It's so easy to just tear up mistakes and throw away. In fact becoming a good writer requires the courage to make mistakes.
Literally hundreds of parents have
asked me..."Why do schools turn out
so many delinquents?"
One reason, don't get mad now teach...think. Sit on that ego...Here's why -- because too many -- writing teachers love their-itty-bitty-rules of grammar...they don't realize they often destroy writing skills. Why?
Cuz, it has not occurred to them-after giving a failing grade..."What does your student think???" "Did you ask for feedback rather than just think...I'm a great teacher!"
A great manager questions everything he/she does...What is a manager? He or she is -- a teacher forever and ever...
I know teachers want to be effective, but are they really thinking about the results of their work? The truth is...if you know everything...you know nothing. Over confidence can be disastrous.
INCIDENTLY, OUR PRISONS ARE FULL OF INMATES WHO HATE "ENGLISH TEACHERS."
These are not my words...I just listen and listen. Is it reality?
Is there a way your teacher can help your Son become the best damn writer on campus??? Emphatically YES. Look in the mirror-move beyond caring to...coaching with so much practice...he will say. "Hey, Mom...I can sell anything...bigger or smaller...than a bread basket -- on paper...
HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR SON'S SELF-IMAGE???
That's Easy; help him become an expert with one simple word. Encourage him to research and write and communicate...Use his Passion -- the fire in his belly...It's a winner every time.
Grammar has nothing to do with it...Gut feelings...tears and fears explain who he is and wants to be.
A favorite word for teenagers is Courage. Another is confidence. Try "LOVE." Even your big macho SON...can shed tears on this one.
Your Son can unload his heart and soul if teachers don't make fun of his work.

Too many teachers would not be an effective batting coach on any World Series Champion Baseball Team...
